Oh boy, the Marx Brothers. Somebody should give these guys some drugs. When Rufus T. Firefly (Groucho) takes over the country of Freedonia, it’s up to Sylvania spies Pinky and Chicolini (Harpo and Chico, respectively) to help bring the country down. Insanity ensues.
I’ve always had a mixed feeling about the Marx Brothers. I love the movies, don’t get me wrong, but it’s still a struggle, mentally. Chico is my favorite, and obviously Groucho has the best lines. But I’ve always, always hated Harpo. He’s ridiculously unfunny and his schtick is basically acting like an asshole and introducing a musical number for himself (which, thankfully, this movie lacks). Still, it has some memorable sequences, such as the famous mirror scene, and the trial scene that leads to a famous musical number where the brothers play drums on deadweight soldiers. Speaking of soldiers, Zeppo Marx is in this movie and he’s as forgettable as a cold. A great comedy tho, so don’t skip it.domingo, 21 de junio de 2009
