Watership Down

One of the most celebrated English novels was made into an animation film in the 70’s, and a pretty ballsy one at that.
The plot deals with a group of rabbits, who escape their borough after one has a vision of blood across the fields. Trying to find a new place to live. they encounter new dangers, like dogs, cats, humans (of course) and a tyrannical cult-like borough ruled by a psychotic bunny named General Woundworth. Hazel and Bigwig are our two main heroes, who have to protect, one with his brains and another with his strength, the other smaller rabbits. After reviewing Night of the Lepus, I felt I had to make a review of a good rabbit movie. The animation is top notch and the voice acting is stupendous, particularly from John Hurt (Hazel) and Zero Mostel, in is last film appearance, as a retarded seagull. Highly recommended, but be careful if you show it to children, they might be traumatized!
