Another one of those films that I discovered thanks to the great book, Nightmare USA, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this film. Two couples head for a camping trip in some woods in the middle of California, and are systematically murdered by a crazy mountain man driven by hunger, of all things. You can tell it was done with the cheapest budget imaginable, but what makes it enjoyable are the good acting performances, particularly from main villain John, played by Gary Kent. The murders are also damn good, very bloody stabbings here and there. Still, the directing is very pedestrian, considering the man who directed this also made the excellent Schoolgirls In Chains. Also, the music is ridiculously cheesy. Still, the movie is excellent and while it may not be as good as Halloween or Friday the 13th, it’s still a very recommendable slasher film.
